Panasonic Leica m4/3 25mm f/1.4 arrived today - some first thoughts and a problem.

Panasonic Leica m4/3 25mm f/1.4 Olympus E-P3

The Panasonic Leica m4/3 25mm f/1.4 produces great results, its sharp wide open, even sharper stopped down, looks great but it does this. The video shows a 20mm lens but my 25mm does exactly the same, only louder.

The aperture blades are constantly clicking, adjusting to the light when live view or the EVF is on. Its actually quite loud and when I was walking along this afternoon in bright sunlight it was constantly making this noise until the live view / EVF turned off. Its obviously protecting the sensor, but its really loud.

I got some info. on this phenomenon via various forums here:-

So, it seems I'm not alone with this, but I've never encountered it before. It poses real problems for using this lens, as the noise is loud, annoying and obtrusive. Back to the dealer tomorrow I think.

In the meantime here's a few more pictures to show what it can do.
