The combination of the Sony NEX-C3's high ISO performance and a lens like the Nikon 50mm f/1.2 would mean there are very few low light situations that couldn't be handled.

In the images below, the large picture is the camera jpg. and the smaller one is a blow-up from a raw file processed in Capture One Pro for maximum sharpness.

This is a lens that I and my nephew who now owns it have used extensively indoors, in very low light, both for stills and video. At f/1.2 it does have a unique look and is somewhat soft, though this is not unnatractive.

Closing down the lens improves the sharpness and by f/4 its performing very well.

By f/8 this is one of the sharpest lenses I've ever used.

The great advantage of all the Compact System Cameras from Sony, Samsung Panasonic and Olympus, includes this option to use a wide range of lenses, the majority of which are never going to be made by the manufacturers themselves. In Sony's case, it seems that they are about to bring out a top of the range, "professional" (though I hate that term) CSC in the shape of the NEX-7. They currently have very few lenses to be used on that. If they do bring out the NEX-5n then their cameras outnumber their lenses. Just like it was important in the early days of m4/3 that a limited lens range could be augmented by a whole series of alternative and legacy lenses, I feel the same is true for the Sony NEX system. To a certain extent they can be seen to be going along with this. I don't believe that the Manual Focus Peaking aid is designed solely for the NEX AF lenses, if at all, and it is obviously designed for the wide range of lenses that can be used by (now thankfully a lot cheaper) adapters.

For myself, this adds to the versatility of the system, and I shall be really interested to see the official announcement this wednesday.
