Bags and Cases

Sony NEX-5n Zeiss 24mm f/1.8

I got an email a few days ago, asking if I was interested in reviewing a camera case for this company.

It was a bit of a surprise, but as someone who obsesses somewhat about finding the right cases and bags for my gear, I am happy to do it. Plus the question I'm most asked about the "camera porn" pictures I post is "Where did you get the case?"

Because of what I do, travel and landscape photography, I have to firstly get all my cameras, lenses and other gear to where I'm going, which can often involve 1000's of miles of driving, or getting on a plane or a train. Once I'm there I have to find the most comfortable and easiest way to carry all of this when I'm out working. I obviously try to cut down on the weight and bulk as much as possible, and need to be able to have easy access and also as much protection for my equipment as possible. Consequently I have, and always have had a selection of different bags and cases for the various items I use.

These days, things are fortunately smaller and lighter, but its actually taken a while for suitable carrying cases and bags to become available. And often these things are just an afterthought at shops or on websites. My so called local professional dealer always had a pretty poor selection, and usually this revolved around DSLR outfits anyway. So its nice to see a company thats specialising in this.

I am currently trying out the rather nice red tan leather case for my Sony NEX-5n, pictured at the top of the page, and I'll be reporting on how it performs in the near future.
