Leica M9 with Nokton f/1.1

Due to the fact that this is a heavy lens I tend not to take it out in a bag with other lenses. With the arrival of full-frame on the Leica I can now take it out on its own for a 50mm standard lens "photographic purity" session.

The 50mm standard lens has often been neglected, however its always been a very useful lens. They are usually sharp, fast (in this case very fast) and are surprisingly versatile. If I could only ever have one lens for any camera it would always be a standard lens.

The Nokton is a fine lens. Most comments and reviews of it focus on the fast maximum aperture, but stopped down its a real quality lens. Between F/2.8 and F8 it produces wonderfully sharp images.

Yesterday the fog and gloom lifted for a day & I was able to go out and use it on the M9.
The results were exceptional. This new Leica sensor takes no prisoners with lenses but the Nokton performed really well. I could happily use this lens exclusively with the camera & be sure of consistent quality results. A real gem.
